Laughing in the face of danger seems to be a great way to attract more danger. Is that a masochistic circle? Autotruculence? A flagellocycle? No seriously, I wanna know... for a friend...
It's important to talk about how great you are on a regular basis. Putting yourself down only belittles the people striving to keep up with you.
Is there such a thing as Vehicular Tourette's? At first I thought I had some kind of Automobilic Coprolalia that caused me to swear every time I got into the car, but I've realised that it also incorporates many facial tics and gestures...
Ever wondered why you get music shivers?
Music can cause a release of dopamine... It can change your mood, brainwaves, heart rate, blood pressure and your co-ordination. The thrill of music has even been found to be addictive I have the headphones in tonight and I'm enthralled in Penderecki's 'Te Dium'. I've always liked a bit of classical; Faure, Mozart, Tchaikovsky- but it's only recently that I've found some classical that really ties me up and makes me forget where I am and what I'm doing. Penderecki and Ligeti really transport me to a joyous place of despair. It really is beautiful and horrific, but aren't we all? For me music transcends all other art.... and, well, everything. I read a few different people's opinions on what 'art' is and I didn't really like any of them. Tolstoy wrote an entire book on the subject, buuut I'm just going to bumble on through with my own gross oversimplification. To me 'art' is the distillation and conveyance of an idea or emotion. I'm a thinker not a scholar, so I may be way off on this (I know how calling oneself a thinker sounds, but bear in mind not only did I not claim to be successful at it, I also admitted I'm ineducated). Moving on. Most art has been invented by mankind over millennia. It has evolved as we have; but I believe music to be different because it existed before us. Birdsong, crickets, raindrops in a puddle, the sound of the crashing surf, the beat of the heart, in fact the entire universe runs in cycles, it has a rhythm to it. Music is our connection to it. But music is more than that. Every cell in our bodies- every bone, tissue and fibre- each resonate to a different sound frequency. Let's go beyond that. Every atom vibrates. Every. Single. One. Right now they are all humming. The entire fucking universe is humming and so are you. You are entirely made up of billions of humming bits of exploded star. That's how important music is. That is why music transcends art. A musician is playing with the very core of our beings. They tinker with our heart rates and our emotions. The musical shiver is the brain flooding with dopamine; the same chemical that junkies and sex addicts need to feel at peace. Music is da bomb, da shizznet and da biz. Music isn't only life, but a part of atomic structure itself. If you have no idea what you're looking at here it's because reality is unravelling faster than you can knit. Are Fur Seals as evil as dolphins? It's a tough call... Fur seals have been found raping King Penguins on Marion Island in the remote Sub Antarctic. Recorded in a recent journal of Polar Biology four instances of the inter-species attempt at copulation were documented with the final penguin also being eaten afterwards. The incidents have been captured on video, and published in a study aptly entitled Multiple occurrences of king penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus) sexual harassment by Antarctic fur seals (Arctocephalus gazella). What the hell, Seals? It's one thing to fuck a 'King' penguin, but another to upload it to Youtube... New heights are reached every day. Recently the world's oldest cave art was discovered in Indonesia and estimated at approximately 40,000 years old, we are mapping new parts of the genome (the Beatles gene as not yet been found), people are running faster, jumping higher and throwing further, science has discovered the brain has formed decisions up to 3 seconds prior to consciousness knowing it and still my employer sends me an email to tell me that email is down.
